Introduction

Generator Power Advisor (“GPA”, “the app”, “we”) helps you estimate what you can safely run on a portable generator. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. In plain terms: the app has no user accounts, shows no ads, does not track you, and keeps your data on your own device. The app only contacts outside services when you choose to use an optional location or environmental feature, as described below.

Information You Provide

The app does not require an account, sign-in, email address, or personal profile. The information you enter — such as your generator selection, custom generator specifications, which appliances are on, battery and charging settings, elevation, fuel configuration, quick presets, and real-world test records — is used only to produce the estimates you see on screen. You are not asked for your name, contact details, or payment information.

Information Stored on Your Device

Your generator selections, appliance selections, preferences, theme choice, fuel records, real-world tests, and related app data are stored locally on your device using standard browser or application storage (for example, localStorage). This information stays on your device. The developer does not operate a server that collects or receives this information, and it is not sent to us.

Location and Environmental Information

Some optional features can use your location to improve environmental calculations — for example, estimating your elevation (which affects a generator's output) or retrieving tonight's forecast low temperature (which can affect fuel performance).

• Location is requested only when you voluntarily tap a location feature (such as “Use My Location”). It is not collected in the background and is not continuously tracked.
• If you deny location permission, the app continues to work — you can enter the relevant information manually (for example, typing an elevation in feet, or entering a ZIP code for the forecast).
• Approximate coordinates or a ZIP code you enter are used to complete the request and are not stored on our servers, because we do not operate one.

Third-Party Services

When you use a location or environmental feature, the app contacts the following third-party services over a secure (HTTPS) connection to complete your request:

• Open-Elevation (api.open-elevation.com) — used to estimate elevation from approximate coordinates.
• Open-Meteo (api.open-meteo.com) — used to retrieve a local forecast low temperature from approximate coordinates.
• Zippopotam.us (api.zippopotam.us) — used to convert a U.S. ZIP code you enter into approximate coordinates for the forecast feature.

To fulfill a request, the app may send data that is technically necessary to that service, such as the approximate coordinates (or the ZIP code you entered) and, as with any internet request, your device's IP address. These services are operated by third parties and process such requests under their own privacy practices. The app does not send your saved generator, appliance, or test data to these services.

No API keys or personal identifiers are attached to these requests, and these features are used only when you choose to.

Analytics, Advertising, and Tracking

The app does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or cross-app/cross-site tracking. There are no advertising identifiers, no ad networks, and no marketing trackers. We do not build advertising or marketing profiles about you.

How Information Is Used

Information is used only to make the app work for you: to calculate and display generator load, safety margin, runtime, and related guidance; to remember your settings between sessions on your device; and, when you use an optional location or environmental feature, to complete that specific request. We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or tracking.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising or marketing. Because your app data stays on your device, there is normally no personal information for us to share. The only outbound data is what you send to the environmental services above when you choose to use those features. We may disclose information if required to comply with a valid legal obligation, but we hold no server-side personal data to disclose.

Data Retention and Deletion

Because your data is stored locally, it remains on your device until you remove it. You control it:

• Within the app, you can delete individual custom generators, delete real-world test entries, reset the Fuel Tracker session, and restore the built-in presets.
• To remove all locally stored app data, clear the app's or browser's site/application storage, or uninstall the app.

We do not retain this information on a server because we do not collect it there.

Data Security

Your app data is kept on your device rather than on our servers, and requests to the environmental services listed above are made over secure (HTTPS) connections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so while we take reasonable care, we cannot guarantee absolute security. Keeping your device and operating system up to date helps protect information stored on it.

Children's Privacy

Generator Power Advisor is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app does not require an account and stores data locally, it does not gather personal details from any user.

The app and this page may link to third-party websites, such as the environmental services above or an app store listing. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites, and we encourage you to review their policies.

App Store Distribution

When you install Generator Power Advisor from the Apple App Store or Google Play, Apple or Google may collect basic diagnostic, installation, or distribution data under their own policies as part of operating their platforms. That collection is governed by Apple's and Google's privacy policies, not by us.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be reflected here, and continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
